The Purple Woods resides in an alternate dimension; it is only accessible through trans dimensional portals. The field mice maintain most of the portals connecting the Purple Woods to the real world. Trans dimensional portals are extremely rare and can be found in the most unusual places, such as a closet or tree trunk.
Although the Purple Woods appears to be much like the real world, there are some subtle yet important differences. Humans are not indigenous to the Purple Woods and very few have ever visited. The creatures in the Purple woods resemble typical animals found in the real world; however, most are of a higher intelligence. Furthermore, a kingdom of life designated as Stuffie exists in the Purple Woods that is not found in the real world.
The Log Portal
When Kellen goes through the little door in his closet, he is transported to The Purple Woods. The entrance is through a large tree trunk that was nicknamed ‘The Log Portal’. This is were the majority of Kellen’s adventures begin.
The Granola Bar Tree
The granola bar tree grows granola bars instead of fruit. It looks much like a typical apple tree otherwise. Kellen and his friends often stop here to have a snack when they are out hiking on the trails.
The Blankie Tree
When the woodland creatures in The Purple Woods want to get soft snuggly blankets, they go to the Blankie tree. This unusual tree grows blankets from its branches all year round. The riverside raccoons, George and Stinky live in the tree.
Regions
The Purple Woods is divided into four regions: Cozy forest, Shadow Forest, Forxwood Forest, and Griza Forest.
The Field Mice Underground Base
Nobody really knows what goes on in the underground base. The field mice keep the entrance guarded and only those with top secret clearence are allowed to enter. There are many nighttime reports of strange flying objects and lights in the sky over the base.
Ted the Bear's House
Ted the bear lives in a small cabin where he grows tea. He is an absolute connoisseur when it comes to all things related to tea. Ted often invites friends over for four o’clock tea, complete with little sandwiches and cookies!
Joe the Sky Pig and the Sleepy Sheep
Joe the Sky Pig lives on top of Thunder Mountain with the Sleepy Sheep. Joe is someone who knows a little bit about everything that goes on in The Purple Woods. Many of the forest creatures come to visit Joe to ask for his advice. When Joe is not tending to his herd of Sleepy Sheep, he enjoys skiing in the Ice Cream Mountains.
